Good to Know about Snowmobile Safari
Snowmobiling has become an increasingly popular activity with the locals. However, popularity has also brought disadvantages; accidents can happen. Harmonization for sledding has been given its own rules. Knowing and respecting them is a prerequisite for safe sledding.
Guided snowmobile safaris
Snowmobile Safaris include snowmobile, fuel and winter travel accessories: snowmobile overalls and shoes, helmet and gloves. It should be noted that these safaris require the driver to be 18 years of age and hold a valid driver’s license.
Snowmobiling has the same traffic laws and regulations as in car driving. It is the responsibility of the participants to take care of their own driving. Safety and driving instructions are checked before departure.
How to dress for outdoor activities and snowmobile safaris
Remember to dress in layers, here are some tips for you:
Each layer has a function. The base layer (against your skin) manages moisture; the insulating layer protects you from the cold; the shell layer (outer layer) shields you from wind and rain.
Insurance and damages
Snowmobiles used in safaris are insured by the Finnish Motor Insurances-law.
The insurance covers the drivers and passengers damages that have occurred in connection with the accident.
In addition, the insurance covers the personal injuries incurred in driving a snowmobile in accordance with the Motor Insurance-law in Finland and the entire property damage incurred bythe innocent party. Participants in Safari are liable for damage caused to snowmobile. The deductible amount is maximum 1 400 € / damage or repair costs.
The basic rules of snowmobiling are included in the Off-Road Traffic Act.
According to the act the snowmobile is mainly used in terrain and on snowmobile trails, which have the same rules as other roads.
The maximum permitted speed of the snowmobile on the routes and terrain on land area is 60 km / h, in ice-covered area 80 km / h. The safety helmet is the most important safety and a must for the driver and the passengers.

We reserve the right to change the routes and duration of excursions in accordance with weather and snow conditions or for security reasons and for the convenience of the participants. We also reserve the right to suspend the Safari if a participant may cause a hazard to themselves or others.
We highly recommend that you have a private travel insurance.
